Teaching

Designing meaningful learning experiences for learners, educators and future leaders.

Teaching is central to my academic identity. Guided by the principles of Human-Centred Learning Experience Design, I view teaching as more than the transmission of knowledge—it is the intentional design of learning experiences that empower people to think critically, collaborate meaningfully and respond creatively to a rapidly changing world.

Over the past two decades, I have taught across undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral programmes, teacher education, professional development and community learning in Hong Kong and the United Kingdom. My teaching brings together Design, Education and Society, encouraging learners to connect theory with authentic practice while engaging thoughtfully with emerging technologies, digital culture and societal change.

My Teaching Philosophy

Instead of asking

'What should I teach?'

I begin with a different question:

'What kind of learning experience will enable people to flourish?'

My teaching is grounded in five principles:

Human-Centred

Understanding learners before designing learning experiences.

Authentic

Connecting classroom learning with real-world challenges and professional practice.

Inclusive

Creating equitable learning environments where diverse learners can participate, contribute and succeed.

Research-Informed

Drawing upon educational research, learning sciences and evidence-informed practice.

Future-Oriented

Preparing learners to navigate AI, digital transformation and an increasingly interconnected society.

Human-Centred + Authentic + Inclusive + Research-Informed + Future-Oriented
